Let us take Homepure. It has a vast difference to that of Kent. Where as Homepure does not use electricity for purification at all and uses the latest ultrafiltration (UF) technology combined with many others, Kent RO uses electricity for the RO process and as they them self point out in their website, the RO process removes all the essential minerals. The RO membranes also deteriorate to make larger particles to pass through in the course of time thus contaminating the water.
The difference between the two is: Homepure purifies the water to make it totally bacteria free and maintain it to be so with the special Japanese technology. Homepure produces pi-water whereas Kent does not. Pi-water is energy rich water that provide life. There is a definite mineral contribution in Homepure where as Kent does not have. The purity of water from Homepure is guaranteed and there is an indicator that shows its usability, where as Kent is not having that. RO and UV
Kent RO uses UV system and twice as they them self are sure that UV does not kill bacteria. The greatest disadvantage with the UV system is that the UV light helps only to change the DNA as a result of which multiplication of bacteria is controlled but not eliminated. UV is not a total solution for bacteria eradication or destruction. UV treated water are seen to have bacteria counts more in the course of time and it is clear that the effect of UV diminishes in an environment where the tube it self get coated with slime. The more contaminated the water is with fine TDS, the more easily the tube get coated and nullify the effect of UV.
RO process is one that removes all the good things in water. Kent uses RO technology. Why to remove particles up to 0.0001 micron when most of the bacteria are in size bigger than 0.1 micron? It tends to using like distilled water that has no good minerals or ‘life’ of water. greensand
The pesticides and herbicides associated with VOC, TTHM and the elements greensand of chlorine are some of the things that does not get removed from RO or UV. They are highly harmful substances in drinking water. Kent RO is not providing a solution to check these things. Homepure finds a solution to all these and more.
Kent RO does not seem to be contributing towards mineral addition and taste improvement. greensand The system talks about a TDS control valve which seems to be a conspiracy greensand trap. It is not known what they do there and what is its effect in the drinking water.
Kent RO water purifiers could be highly effective only where there is heavy metals and is not a general greensand solution for all water in different parts. I will not recommend it to be used in cities where the pollution levels from industrial waste might contribute much in the drinking water system. As the slimes can vary at different times of the season the UV system is not a trust worthy one for elimination greensand of bacteria.
Kent is a complicated system greensand with so many parts that need frequent replacement or cleaning. The system needs expert care for replacement of any parts and cannot be done by anyone at home. That leaves it to the mercy of maintenance people who has to come and replace the parts whenever it is needed.
In my opinion, Kent RO system is not a perfect water purifier for removal of chlorine like chemicals that could lead to cancerous conditions in body. Also it is not capable of giving enriched water that can give several other benefits to health. These are effectively greensand taken care in Homepure.
However, Kent RO has lesser greensand competition due to their lower price range than any better water purifiers. In terms of value and health benefits I have ound Homepure is much superior and highly effective for primary treated water like municipality water.
